Вот решился на, так сказать, освещение своих экспериментов и тестов весьма необычного и интересного устройства
AudioQuest Dragonfly.
Разработка полностью от начала и до конца принадлежит более чем известной личности в области компьютерного аудио—Гордону Ранкину
(Gordon Rankin: Wavelength Audio) его идеи нашли воплощение во многих устройствах, призванных превращать ноут/комп в высококачественный транспорт.
Подход Гордона, был достаточно смелым и радикальным, как он и сам признался, на создание (дизайн схемы) Dragonfly ушло уйма времени, но результат того стоил: 4-х слойная плата, 5 регуляторов питания, два отдельных тактовых генератора, аналоговый регулятор громкости на 64 положения, асинхронная передача данных по технологии
(Streamlength asynchronous operating code for the TAS1020B USB receiver chip) (выполнена на TAS1020B дальше по I2S на чип ЦАП ESS Sabre ES 9023), поддержка 44,1/48/88,2/96 причем 88,2 реально поддерживается
(важно при воспроизведении SACD-образов), весьма оригинальна цветовая индикация позволяющая определить входящую частоту, вход/выход контакты—фирменные
Direct Silver от AudioQuest.
Вполне заслуженно DragonFly выбрали компонентом года в разделе Computer Audio в журнале
StereoPhile и
What HiFi (best DAC of the Year),а также

Development on this was done over about 8 to 10 months. Kind of a funny story... I said lets do this and AQ wanted a dac with minimum phase filters. So we made a couple of dacs with the Wolfson 8741 and cap coupled and direct coupled and differential and single ended and if you don't know this every example costs about $10K to do. So we made up five different samples and they all were evaluated by the team and we were getting closer. I said look let me make what I originally suggested and I will pay for it if you don't like it. Well that is what is shipping! There are 107 components on a 0.6"x1.7" four layer board including a ton of regulators and expensive custom capacitors.
3.5mm Do understand that at AudioQuest it's all about the metal. Both the USB connector and the 3.5mm connector are custom one off pieces made with high audio grade silver contacts. If we would have put RCA connectors on these it would have been on wire and what kind of an upgrade path would that have had? nothing!!!!! If we would have put RCA connectors on the unit then it would have been bigger you have to put them at least 0.75" apart and nothing would have fit the model AudioQeust wanted.
I did a ton of work on the output stage to make it compatible with both line and headphone. I think it works really well with both as it has more drive than required for line and easily 2x more drive for headphones.
Flavors...
Look there are a lot of flavors of dacs out there. Everyone seems to be an expert but none of you have listened to all of them so really keep your mouth or fingers off the keyboard. None of us listen the same way or for the same purpose. It's like guitars... you don't hear musicians calling foul on guitars they just don't buy them. Audiophiles should be more like that and really go out an listen before you purchase or make comments.

Слушался в сравнении с EMM Labs DAC2X ($15,500):
-the DragonFly is half the size of the EMM Labs logo on top of the DAC2X;
-these two DACs together as both the price and size are at opposite ends of the continuum
but the sound quality differences between the two are not complete opposites;
-the $15,000 EMM Labs DAC2X is unequivocally in another class above the $250 AudioQuest DragonFly;
-The AudioQuest DragonFly is certainly
the coolest product I've used in recent memory;
-Above all the
coolness and sound quality is the high value of a great component that retails for $250;
-The $250 DragonFly
sounded great on the vast majority of my albums;
-To my surprise the DragonFly really shined in my main system. It sounded better than either of the aforementioned headphone combinations by a long shot. The quality that really stood out was the DragonFly's ability to reproduce reverb tails and decay much better than it had done with my headphones. Granted the DF is nowhere near the EMM Labs DAC2X in this category, but the improvement I heard with the DF at unity gain sending analog audio through a very revealing system was remarkable. This type of improvement should have audiophiles burning through bandwidth on Internet forums rather than arguing over who's Dad is stronger and has better ears to pass a blind listening test.

Ориентировочно, по рекомендациям AudioQuest составляет 100-150 часов. По практике, более 200 часов будет 100% достаточным временем для прогрева.
То, о чем нет упоминания в инструкции:
Как ни странно, но инструкция сводится к простым советам по установке, Родного ASIO драйвера не предусмотрено. В принципе те, кто использует W7, W8, Vista можно вполне обойтись выводом посредством WASAPI, но нужно отметить, что эти ОС не поддерживают вывод 88,2 kHz.
А вот для Windows XP (поддерживает 88,2 kHz) варианта качественного вывода звука в инструкции Вы не найдете (только Direct Sound).
Прежде всего, нужно отключить встроенные звуковые сопровождения, а также всякие ненужные “beep” .
Кратко:
Подключил—все установилось как флешка, сделал рекомендации изготовителя, но после установки звуковой схемы “нет звуков”, громкость при перемещении стала издавать биип, пришлось идти в реестр (C/Windows реестр edit находим вкладку саунд отключил биип “no”. И отключил энхансед саунд)
Файл regedit.exe находиться в папке C:/Windows
ASIO Driver для DragonFly я использовал ASIO4ALL ver 2.10rus
Software Player: Foobar 2000 v0.9.4.4
ASIO Setup: Latency Buffer 224 / 0/0/ Kernel Buffer 2
Для воспроизведения SACD-образов:
Foobar 2000 v1. 14a
ASIO Setup: Latency Buffer 2048 (max) для стабильности работы с Hi-Resoltion
/0/0 Kernel Buffer 4
Касательно “кошерности” вывода звука посредством ASIO4ALL из личной переписки с Гордоном:
Correct only ASIO4ALL will result in bit perfect sound. XP is not a good solution for audio. Windows 7 would be much better as you can use WASAPI.

Понятное дело, что сам форм фактор заложенный в этом изделии не предполагает такую “гравиЦАПу”, что сделал я, но, тем не менее, для достижения максимума звуковых качеств из этого устройства я применил уже зарекомендовавший себя путь апгрейта—посредством применения юсб-изолятора с высококачественным внешним питанием. Этот вариант включения полностью гальванически развязывает схему Dragonfly от ноута/компа, включая не только питание и шасси, но сигнальные цепи передачи данных D+ и D-.
А применение внешнего малошумного питания закрепляет благотворное влияние на качество звучания.
Звучание стало более аналоговое, добавилось плавность, проработка обертонов, проработка баса.
