ALMOST CLASSIC PRIEST ***** 5
"...im not sure as i only got this beautiful japan deluxe edition today and i am spinning this disc for the second time but i feel most fans will probably say this is the best priest record since painkiller some 28 years ago, i agree with them but ive been a priest fan since 1978 and i say this is as good as anything priest did between 1984 and 1990 ( excluding the awful turbo record from 1986 forget that one) i have felt for years that defenders of the faith back in 1984 was the last great priest record as it was 100% pure metal, i honestly liked the ram it down record a lot from 1988 as it was a great return to the real priest sound with some really good songs regardless of what some have said over the last 30 years regarding that album and painkiller was amazing to but a bit on the thrash side of things a lot, THIS RECORD HAS A LOT OF THE PAINKILLER ELEMENTS TO IT, i did not like what priest did w/ tim ripper ownes as the music was very 90s sounding and just did not sound like real judas priest, the angel of retribution record back in 2005 was great but seemed to lack catchy great songs and the last one redeemer of souls just kind of chugged along with the guitars to crunchy. THIS firepower record brings a bit of that late 80s thrash sound back and a bit of a real old school feel to it, the packaging is beautiful here and this blue spec disc sounds amazing and as i have made it clear THIS IS THE BEST THING JP HAVE DONE IN 28 YEARS, looking foward to seeing them with saxon in a couple of weeks........."
