ASRC Sampling Rate
With the implementation of ASRC (Asynchronous Sampling Rate Conversion) in the design, D100 has excellent anti-jitter performance. The input digital signal is resampled to 110 KHz by the ASRC circuit while referencing to a high precision and low noise 1ppm clock crystal. The low jitter I2S signal is then feed into the high performance DA chip (AD1955). This process makes sure that the output signal is not sensitive to the clock quality of input signal.
Headphone Output
D100 has two headphone jacks for different impedances. The “Low” port is for low impedance headphones or IEMs. The “High” port is for high impedance cans.
The “Sound” button on the faceplate can be used to change the style of the headphone output. Mode 1 is full range. Mode 2 weakens the highs a little bit.
USB Driver
The USB interface of D100 works without any extra driver under Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux, and Mac OS X. D100 uses the TAS1020B USB receiving chip from TI which is widely used on many high end audio equipments. The signal received through USB interface is also feed into the ASRC circuit for re-sampling. The sound quality from the USB interface can be as good as the S/PDIF inputs.
