To all those interested in the Hotei speaker -
The main driver in this system is the Hartley 220MSG, 10" full
range loudspeaker. Construction is an all polymer cone, dual
voice coil, integral silicone rubber surround and magnetic
suspension internal braking system. This is the same driver
we have been manufacturing since 1956, of course, with many
improvements.

Hartley has been continually manufacturing drivers since 1927.
It has been in two families for all those years. The origins of
the company was British from 1927 to 1952. In 1953 my father,
Robert Schmetterer, purchased all rights and manufacturing of
the Hartley name.
Since we moved to Wilmington, NC, in 1986 from New Jersey,
we have kept a very low profile in the industry. This is greatly due to the complicated manufacturing process of our drivers. We believe our manufacturing is the most labor intensive of any moving coil loudspeakers that we know of. There are over 50 hand operations in making one 220MSG (10") speaker. We think it`s worth it. We continue to supply raw drivers to audiophiles all over the world.
